Your site’s landing page is just as important as all other aspects of your business. Depending on how effective your landing page choice is, it can make or break your business. Landing page is a fairly new concept to Internet marketing; it is a web page that your prospects arrive at after clicking on a link in your site. What does a landing page contain? Normally, It should have a carrier for the message in the form of copy, audio or video. In addition there is some kind of action mechanism – either a form (to leave information) or a button (to go to the order page). This is pretty standard and well accepted.
There are a lot of elements to the landing page you should consider if you want a highly profitable one.
Check out your headlines. Chances are that the headline that is working well for you elsewhere will still perform well with another traffic or it may not. Profitable headlines sum up the message you wish to send. Remember to consider the important elements of basic copywriting too. Don’t use more than two columns, never use a format using three or more columns as it is proven not to work as well, always use 1 or 2 columns for best results. Centre your headings and sub headings, but make sure the rest of your text is left justified. Then test your headlines because you never know what is going to work.
Focus on the benefit and outcome for your customer/audience. You must talk about your audience’s needs if you want to connect with them. If your page does not make this connection with your visitor, they will simply hit the back button and leave. Help them to understand what you are passing across. The title tag of your page should match, or be as close as possible to the keyword phrase as this shows the visitor that they have come to the right place and will encourage them to read on. If you’re not sure what your visitors intent is you can use a number of different headings, but remember that readers tend to scan so keep your headings big enough. Since it’s all about your audience, use the word “you” a lot.
Be precise and write a clear and obvious call to action such as “buy it now”, “click here to order”, “submit”, “like” things of such. Your sole objective with your page is to make a connection with your audience, they have a problem, need or desire and you must show you have the solution to their problem need or desire by connecting with them through talking their language.
They say “A picture is worth a thousand words” it is true. Use pictures or even a short video. When you use videos or even audio on your landing page you will increase your conversion. At minimum you should have a picture of yourself. That should pull some stunt.
If you’ve ever desired a highly profitable landing page, you should make sure you have contact details on your landing page, at least an email address; however a contact phone number and address as well will always help reassure your visitor you are legitimate and in turn will up your chances of them buying. Putting your name on this page is a must; you should also have your signature where possible or at least put your name in a different font.
